Hello and welcome to TAG TALK, the blog by TAG. Everyone has a blog today because we all believe we have something to say. Two years ago, I resigned from my job and I never thought it a million years I would still be unemployed, and sadly the jobs that are readily available to me are minimum wage work. When you lose your job because of someone else’s mistake it sucks. But you also think that you will find another job because everyone has always said, “I would kill to have your experience.” But it appears the older one gets, the more irrelevant one becomes. Ageism is real. First you get depressed. Then even more disastrously you take a job clear across the country because you are so scared of becoming homeless and find out that wasn’t such great idea either. Then you return home and try to reinvent yourself. In my case, at the age of 61. One night I was coming home from a party and I was listening to the Andy Cohen station, RADIOANDY, and a psychic was on and a caller asked him what gets him through a difficult day and he said, “I trust, I trust, I trust”. This is a Cliff Notes version of the last 20 months of my life. I have had my lows, the even lowers, the dark depressed days when I dreaded the light of day. I begged for a different anti-depressant to help lift me into a better space, yet when I felt completely overwhelmed, I prayed, “I trust, I trust, I trust”. At first quick resolutions were handed to me, then slowly I began the ascent from my hell, I decided to do what I wanted to do: live my life on my own terms, create an online bakeshop with treats that I have been making for gifts for years and create a talk show format You Tube Channel with a different twist. I will attempt to do (what many say is the answer to social problems: the hard conversation. But what is the hard conversation? It is often suggested however no one can tell you what it is or how to conduct one. Well, I am going to attempt to find and have one. Please join me in my discovery of the hard conversation.
